Drive-Thru Meat Market Pulling Into Indy

A new drive-through craze has hit: Fresh meat in bulk (we're talking 40-pound cases) and it's coming to Indy. Washington-based Zaycon Foods will bring its temporary drive-through meat market to Indianapolis, Avon, Greenwood and Fishers, next week.

Is ground beef the favorite American meat today? Well, many would say so, and a recent white paper suggested it could amount to 55%-60% of all foodservice and retail beef sales. Ground beef offers great taste and cooking flexibility in tacos, spaghetti sauce, casseroles, meatballs or burgers. While its cost has risen greatly in recent years, it still offers a price point competitive with pork and poultry.

AMSA RMC Symposium To Explain Color Stability In Fresh Meats

The American Meat Science Association (AMSA) is pleased to announce that, Dr. Cameron Faustman, University of Connecticut; Dr. Andy King, U.S. Meat Animal Research Center and Dr. Brad Kim, Purdue University will be the featured speakers in the AMSA 67th Reciprocal Meat Conference (RMC) Meat Quality Symposium, on Tuesday, June 17.

Penn State Master Gardeners' Western PA Demonstration Gardens Showcase Winners

In late May, Penn State master gardeners plant annuals in demonstration gardens in North Park and South Park as a way for local gardeners to observe their performance in our region. The plants are donated by local garden centers and are often new and award-winning cultivars of tried and true plants.
