Frieda’s team members took on the 5K run at the Los Alamitos Race on the Base on February 22. Wearing their signature purple shirts with the slogan, “Eat one fruit a day that scares you,” the team consisted of Frieda’s team members from different departments with different levels of fitness. For many, this 5K race was their first race ever.

Leonardo Academy, a charitable organization that facilitates the development of national voluntary standards, announced that the public comment for National Sustainable Agriculture Standard (LEO-4000) is being extended to April 6, 2014. The Standard Committee ballot of the standard is also being extended to April 6, 2014. This ground-breaking standard, developed through the American National Standards Institute's (ANSI) open, multi-stakeholder process, provides voluntary guidance and opportunities for recognition for producers interested in or engaged in sustainable crop production.

Western Growers Teams With American Cancer Society To Fight Cancer With Nutrition

This week, Western Growers announced a first-time partnership with The American Cancer Society’s California Division to raise awareness about how healthy eating choices are tied to cancer prevention.  To aid in this awareness campaign, Western Growers has committed $100,000 over two years to support American Cancer Society programs, services advocacy and cancer research efforts. While the formal agreement was made with the ACS California division, all benefits and programs of the collaboration include WG members in Arizona.
