USDA Revises Eggplant Grading Standards

The U.S. Department of Agriculture is revising U.S. Standards for Grades of Eggplant. The revised standards will allow mixed colors and/or types of eggplant in the same pack when designated as a mixed or specialty pack.  The revisions will provide the industry with more flexibility to meet consumer demand and market U.S. eggplant in an increasingly competitive world market.  The revised standards become effective Feb. 4, 2013.

FDA Proposes Food Safety Standards For Illness Prevention & Produce Safety

The proposed rules implement the landmark, bipartisan FDA Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) and are available for public comment for the next 120 days. The FDA encourages Americans to review and comment on these important proposed rules.
