Georgia Food Shrimp Season To Close December 31st

Commissioner Mark Williams has announced that Georgia's food shrimp harvest season will close at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 31, 2013. This closure affects all food shrimp harvesting activities, including commercial trawling, commercial and recreational food shrimp cast netting, and shrimp seining on the beaches. Anglers and commercial bait shrimp dealers can still harvest shrimp for use as bait. Food shrimp season automatically closes on December 31 unless extended by action of the Commissioner of Natural Resources.
