Pure Hot House Foods Inc. grower, Ernie Ingratta, is expanding his operating facilities by over 50% in acreage to accommodate for the increased demand for Juno® Bites, Luna Sweets®, Romas, and tomatoes on the vine, as well as to include new types such as cluster tomatoes. The new greenhouses will feature the latest growing technology, lower input costs, and an extended growing season. Instead of the normal growing season of lasting until November, the new greenhouses will extend it into January.

Ag Against Hunger has received a $20,500 grant from the DeWitt Fund and B.G. Mayer Fund of the Community Foundation for Monterey County. This grant will go towards Ag Against Hunger’s new pilot program called “Partners in Produce”. This program will help increase the amount and variety of healthy food given to the 87,700 residents who utilize the services of the Food Bank for Monterey County. This variety will be accomplished by trading locally grown produce for different types of food grown or manufactured in other areas of California.
