A report by Rabobank cites lower incomes and perceived price increases, alongside strong competition from processed and convenience foods, as the major factors driving this trend. Producers, processors and retailers must all explore ways to inspire greater consumption of fruit & vegetables if the industry is to flourish.

Shipments Of South African Summer Citrus Arriving In US Markets Nationwide

In time to celebrate America’s birthday, citrus from South Africa is arriving. The first refrigerated vessel, Nagato Reefer, docks today at Philadelphia’s Holt Terminal in Gloucester City, NJ. Onboard are +/- 245,000 cartons of Clementines, and Navel and Cara Cara oranges. Some early season citrus, including Star Ruby grapefruit arrived in June in containers.

US Pacific Island Fishery Managers Address Overfishing Of Internationally Managed Fisheries

The Western Pacific Regional Fishery Management Council concluded its three-day meeting in Honolulu on federally managed fisheries in Hawaii, American Samoa, Guam, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI) and other US Pacific Islands. Decisions affecting regulations are transmitted as recommendations to the Secretary of Commerce for final approval.
