Dole Indefinitely Suspends Buyback, Invests In Container Ships

Dole (DOLE) indefinitely suspended a previously announced $200 million share buyback program on Tuesday in an effort to stem losses from its volatile strawberry business and revamp its fleet of container ships.

Avocado Sales Growing Across All Markets & Regions

For the 4-week period ending 2/24/2013, strong dollar sales growth was seen in all Markets. Albany and Salt Lake City stand out, each up +31% vs. prior year. Most Markets also delivered volume growth with Roanoke in the top spot at +52%. For the 4-week period ending 2/24/2013, all Regions posted positive dollar trends, led by the Southeast at +21% and the Northeast at +16%. These sales gains were achieved despite the continued downward trend in Average Selling Price. Volume trends were also strong, led by Great Lakes (+26%) and Southeast (+23%).
