Gourmet Trading Company, the leading supplier of fresh asparagus in North America, announced that their WA Grower Field Representative, Phil Clouse, was awarded Washington Asparagus Person of the Year. Clouse first began working for Gourmet Trading Company in 2005 when the company established a state of art packing facility in Washington set to revive the deteriorating industry. This year will be the company’s 8th consecutive season of Washington Asparagus.

New DRC Website Focuses On Dispute Prevention

As part of their renewed focus on Keeping Trade on Track through dispute prevention education, the Fruit and Vegetable Dispute Resolution Corporation (DRC) have launched a new website, FVDRC.com. The new site is designed to better align with recent rebranding and marketing efforts. The produce trade will now have better access to key information to help prevent disputes and allow industry to quickly call up reference tools such as the active DRC members list, guidelines and templates.

Fishing Quotas Cut For Lake Erie Yellow Perch, Pickerel

Commercial fishermen on Lake Erie have had their quota for this year reduced. The Lake Erie Committee announced the total allowable catch for 2013 on March 28th.
