SUPERVALU Inc. announced plans to reduce its national workforce by an estimated 1,100 positions. The final working dates for impacted employees vary, based on the needs of the business and the areas they support. The reductions include both current positions and open jobs that will not be filled.

National Mango Board Seeks Board Nominees

The National Mango Board (NMB) is calling for leaders in the mango industry to step forward and participate in the nominations process to become a board member. The NMB is seeking nominations for seven board member positions with three-year terms beginning January 2014. The positions include two importers from District III, one importer from District IV, one domestic producer and three foreign producers. Candidates must meet certain requirements and be willing to serve the mango industry by fulfilling board member roles and responsibilities

Canadian Potato Museum Receives $49,500 Donation From Sobeys & W.P. Griffin Inc.

The Canadian Potato Museum is proud to announce the presentation of a donation in the amount of $49,500 from Sobeys and W.P. Griffin Inc. as a result of a successful potato sales promotion in February.  During this month, 198,000 ten pound bags of Heritage Netted Gems from W.P. Griffen Inc. of Elmsdale, Prince Edward Island were sold at Sobeys and Foodland retail locations in Atlantic Canada, with 25 cents from each bag going to the Potato Museum.

USDA Schedules Hearing On Proposed Citrus Marketing Order Amendments

The U.S. Department of Agriculture will hold a public hearing on April 24, 2013, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., to discuss proposed modifications to the federal marketing order for Florida-grown oranges, grapefruit, tangerines and tangelos.
