During the Gerbera meeting on Wednesday, 13 February, Gerbera growers representing 100 per cent of the turnover voted for the promotion plan of the FloraHolland Gerbera Product Commission (FPC). In total, 78 per cent of total product sales in 2012 was included in the vote.

This means after the curds are formed, they are drained, then heated, salted and pulled, doubled and pulled again and again, somewhat like taffy, to form the elastic texture and fine separable strings we associate with string cheeses. Then they are doubled up in pretty knots and stored in brine or packaged in Cryovac. The cheese is sold fresh, with no aging.

The Consorzio del Prosciutto di Parma is excited to announce that 2012 proved to be another record year for Prosciutto di Parma sales in the U.S. More than 500,000 legs and 2 million packs of pre-sliced product were sold in the U.S., the Consorzio’s number one export market. The U.S. became the top export market, surpassing France, in 2010. The 2012 sales numbers shatter the previous record set in 2011, with a 17% boost.

Tyson Deli is now offering point of sale communication materials that highlight the eligibility of cold deli prepared foods for purchase under Supplemental Nutrition Assurance Program (SNAP), a successor to food stamps.
