The National Meat Case Study is completed every three years, with funding from the beef checkoff, the pork checkoff and Sealed Air/Cryovac. The study provides a comprehensive look at how meat is merchandised in the retail case – with a look at product carried and information provided on the label or in the case. 2010 was the fourth time this audit was conducted, so shifts that have occurred since the initial audit in 2002 can be analyzed.

Leucadia National Corporation Completes Acquisition Of Control Of National Beef

Leucadia National Corporation announced that it has completed the acquisition of a controlling interest in National Beef Packing Company, LLC (“National Beef”), one of the largest beef processing companies in the Unites States. National Beef processes, packages and delivers fresh and frozen beef and beef by-products for sale to customers in the U.S. and international markets. The transaction was previously announced on December 5, 2011.
