Rogue Creamery’s Rogue River Blue was named one of the Top 16 Cheeses in the World at the 2012 World Cheese Awards in Birmingham, England, winning a Super Gold medal as one of the top 55 cheeses; it was also named Best American Cheese. The creamery also won a second gold in the same class with Flora Nelle their organic naturally rinded blue cheese. Their third success was Echo Mountain Blue which won a Bronze award in the Mixed Milk Class. The World Cheese Awards, run by the UK’s Guild of Fine Food, is the largest and most respected competition of its type in the world. There were 255 judges who gathered to taste and score cheeses from 30 different countries last week.

Chester County, PA Health Department: Illness Associated With Raw Milk

The Chester County Health Department has been informed of an increase of severe gastro enteric symptoms among persons who drank raw milk supplied by Kimberton Farms Dairy. Kimberton Whole Foods, distributor, has removed raw milk products packaged by Kimberton Farms Dairy (also known as Camp Hill Village or Kimberton Hills) from its Kimberton and Downingtown stores.

Treehouse Foods Acquires Aseptic Cheese & Pudding Business From Associated Milk Producers

TreeHouse Foods, Inc. announced today that it has completed the acquisition of the assets of the Aseptic Cheese and Pudding business from Associated Milk Producers Inc. ("AMPI"), a dairy marketing cooperative based in New Ulm, Minnesota. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed, but are not expected to have a material effect on TreeHouse's results. The business sells products to foodservice and retail customers, and will be integrated into the Company's existing Bay Valley Foods aseptic operation which also produces cheese and pudding products primarily for its Food Away From Home segment.
