U.S. Swordfish Fishery Enters Assessment For MSC Certification

Sustainable Swordfish LLC, a group involved with about two-thirds of the U.S. east coast swordfish landings, has entered the SSLLC US North Atlantic swordfish (Xiphias gladius) longline fishery into independent, third-party assessment against the Marine Stewardship Council’s (MSC) principles and criteria for sustainable and well-managed fisheries. If successful, swordfish harvested from the area by members of this group will be eligible to display the MSC ecolabel.

Funds For Fuel Up To Play 60 Awarded To Wisconsin Schools

Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board has selected 21 Wisconsin Schools to receive a total of $18,500 to kick-off back to school Fuel Up to Play 60 initiatives. Fuel Up to Play 60 is a nation-wide program that encourages students to eat healthy by including low-fat and fat-free dairy, fruits, vegetables and whole grains and achieve at least 60 minutes of physical activity every day.
