Rittberger Meats is recalling about 9,000 pounds of fully cooked deli items due to possible contamination with Listeria monocytogenes. Retail packages of wieners, natural casing wieners, grillers, straight HB roll and kielbasa would bear the ODA mark of inspection and “Est. 13” and would have been purchased after June 25.

NAMA Announces E. Coli Conference

The North American Meat Association (NAMA) Conference on Prevention of Shiga-Toxin Producing E. coli (STEC) for Beef Further Processors will be held Oct. 2-3, 2012, at the Four Points by Sheraton near Chicago’s O’Hare Airport. NAMA is partnering with 11 other meat industry organizations, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety Inspection Service (FSIS), seven trade media and the Beef Industry Food Safety Council (BIFSCo) to host the event.

Butternut's South Peoria Bakery Has Been Rolling Out Bread & Buns For More Than A Century

Names and tastes may change but bread is still getting made in this South Peoria neighbornood as it has for more than a century. The Butternut bread plant at 1511 W. Lincoln Ave. not only pumps out that fresh bakery smell throughout the area but produced 56 million pounds of bread and buns last year, said general manager Matt Stringer.
