L&M Expands Michigan Vegetable Program

L&M is excited to announce it is expanding its Michigan operations. L&M will be representing various Michigan growers, as well as consolidating a full line of vegetables in its new location on the Benton Harbor Market. Greg Cardamone, General Manager of L&M’s Vegetable division says, “In addition to working with several wonderful growers this year, we are happy to have a place we can officially call home on the Benton Harbor Market. The growers do a super job and people in the area are great.”

F&S Produce Awarded $324,800 Training Grant From State Of NJ

F&S Produce in conjunction with Gloucester County College’s Division of Continuing Education has been awarded a $324,800 grant through the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development. This consortium grant will enable comprehensive training to be provided to employees at F&S Produce Co, and its sister companies Pipco Transportation and Mid-Eastern Cold Storage.

Spanish Versions Of Guidance & Best Practice Documents Published By N.A. Produce Transportation Working Group

The North American Produce Transportation Working Group (NAPTWG) announced the posting of a Spanish version of the comprehensive best practices document on their website. The site offers best practice and guidance documents pertaining to the handling and transport of fresh produce to facilitate a seamless, safe, and sustainable global supply-chain. The transportation resources are intended for shippers, receivers and carriers.

Copper River Salmon Harvest At 6,800 Kings, 911,000 Sockeyes

A second 36-hour commercial fishing opener on the Copper River was set to begin at 7 a.m. on June 4, in the wake of a May 31 period that brought in 1,800 Chinook, 130,000 sockeye and 9,000 chum salmon.
