The U.S. Food and Drug Administration, in a complaint filed by the Department of Justice, is seeking to stop the processing and distribution of fish products at a California company because of a risk of botulism and other food hazards.

Beginning this Earth Day (April 22), Whole Foods Market will no longer carry red-rated wild-caught fish in its seafood departments. The move, which comes one year ahead of the company’s self-imposed deadline of Earth Day 2013, makes Whole Foods Market the first national grocer to stop selling red-rated seafood.

Queso Murcia al Vino from Spain is commonly sold in the United States under the brand name "Drunken Goat," because the cheese is soaked in a red wine during its aging cycle. The very dark, tannic, "doble pasta" wine is made with twice the normal amount of grape skins to juice. It stains the thin rind a deep burgundy color, which is striking against the bright white paste and imparts a slightly fruity aroma.

Vermont Butter & Cheese Creamery, Foundation Partner To Create VT's Biggest Goat Dairy

One of Randolph’s most prominent and scenic dairy farms is poised to become Vermont’s largest commercial goats’ milk dairy, milking 700 to 800 goats. The Route 12 farm of Perry and Carol Hodgdon was sold March 14 to the Castanea Foundation, part of a new partnership that will supply goats’ milk to Vermont Butter & Cheese Creamery.

Vandersterre Groep’s Landana Goat Cheese MILD was recently granted a third place award in the semi-soft goat cheese class at the World Championship Cheese Contest held earlier this month in Madison, Wis. This year’s contest received a record 2,504 entries from 24 countries, ranking Vandersterre’s winner among the finest cheeses in the world.
