The Kroger Co. announced the promotion of Tim Brown as president of the company's Delta division. Kroger's Delta division is based in Memphis and operates stores in Western Tennessee, Kentucky, Mississippi, Arkansas and Missouri.

Ohio Grocers Donate Excess To Help Through Shared Harvest Retail Pickup Program

In 2005, Tina Osso, executive director for Shared Harvest Foodbank, approached Kroger food safety experts about developing a protocol that would allow Shared Harvest to collect frozen and refrigerated items from the grocers Fairfield location on its sell-by date. In the two years that followed, the pilot program expanded to 13 more Kroger locations and other organizations got involved, with Freestore Foodbank in Cincinnati and The Foodbank in Dayton adopting locations in their region. Kroger soon developed its first perishable food program based on its southwest Ohio efforts, eventually taking it nationwide under all of its brands.
