The Dannon Company announced the launch of the Dannon Probiotics Fellow Program to support the education of a student who excels in science and shows a strong interest in probiotics studies. The company will award a scholarship equivalent to one year’s tuition (up to $25,000) to a current or incoming graduate student to enhance his or her academic path in this field. The student will also receive an all-expense-paid trip to the Danone Research Center in Palaiseau, France to explore topics in probiotics, nutrition, and human physiology alongside leading experts.

Sofina Foods To Acquire Janes Family Foods

Sofina Foods Inc. (Sofina) and Janes Family Foods Ltd. (Janes) are pleased to announce the companies have signed a definitive agreement under which Janes will become a wholly owned subsidiary of Sofina Foods. The transaction is expected to close shortly after required regulatory approvals are received. The Sofina and Janes businesses are highly complementary and as a result, the combined operations will supply retail and foodservice customers across Canada and the western United States with 14 primary and further processing operations in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Ontario and Washington State.
