Chefs Beef Up Ranks At Revamped Winn-Dixie Stores

The Winn-Dixie store on U.S. Highway 17-92 in Fern Park — the third Central Florida store to be revamped as part of the Jacksonville-based grocery chain’s $200 million “transformational remodeling” effort — redebuted on Feb. 22. The biggest change is in the store’s culinary department, which has a heavy focus on “meal solutions” — offering shoppers an opportunity to take home freshly prepared meals if they aren’t able to gather components of a meal to take home to cook.

Just as a storefront on North Burdick Street now sits empty, the grocery store shelves once stocked with bread products made there also were empty Sunday, one day after Sarkozy Bakery, a 33-year-old Kalamazoo business, was destroyed by fire.

Fenton, MI Artisan Baker 'Crust' Rolls Out Its New Bakery Concept

While the community sleeps, Fenton’s downtown bakery, Crust – a baking company, is wide awake and working, creating more than 100 varieties of artisan breads, pastries and baked goods for everyone to wake up to. Crust is also offering pie-baking classes, and promises bread-baking classes in the near future. They’re also working on wholesaling their products now on a small scale, as they grow into their brand new bakery concept.

New NY PepsiCo Yogurt Plant To Get Big Tax Break

PepsiCo and the privately owned German dairy business Theo Muller plan to invest $206 million through a joint venture called Wave LLC. They expect to create more than 180 jobs at the plant in Batavia, between Rochester and Buffalo. Gov. Andrew Cuomo says the state will provide a $14 million incentive package. Genesee County will grant $12 million in tax breaks.
