Eric Schlacht has purchased Gipaanda Greenhouses from David and Sarah Ryall. The 18 acre greenhouse and packing facility in Ladner, British Columbia, Canada has been renamed Delta View Farms.

Duda Farm Fresh Foods Donates Forty Thousand Pounds Of Fresh Produce To Seminole County Public Schools

Duda Farm Fresh Foods announced today that it has donated forty thousand pounds of fresh produce to Seminole County Public Schools (SCPS) Families in Transition (FIT) program. The fresh produce will be made available to children at food pantries at the school where children will be able to pick up food to take home with them for weekends when school lunches are not available. The retail value of the donated produce is approximately $30,000.

CFIA: Health Hazard Alert Expands To Include Certain Fresh Serrano Peppers That May Contain Salmonella

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is warning the public not to consume the Serrano peppers sold unlabelled from bulk at Safeway stores and various independent grocery stores in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Northwest Territories, Ontario, Saskatchewan and Yukon, between December 5 and 20, 2011, inclusively.

Cal Fresco, LLC Recalls Jalapeno & Serrano Chili Peppers

Cal Fresco, LLC (“Cal Fresco”) is voluntarily working with the Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) and California Department of Public Health (“CDPH”) to coordinate a recall of fresh Jalapeño and Serrano chili peppers for potential contamination with Salmonella. The FDA has advised that a random sample of Cal Fresco Jalapeño and Serrano peppers has tested positive for Salmonella.
