Lifeway Foods, Inc., a leading supplier of cultured dairy products known as kefir and organic kefir, announced expanded distribution of their flagship line, Kefir, into 125 Galaxy stores, 111 Lowes supermarkets, 85 IGA supermarkets, and 81 Sam's Club retail locations. Lifeway's kefir will officially be available to consumers in the four major retailers as of December 1, 2011 and the Company expects to expand marketing and advertising to support sales at the retail chains. …

Raw-milk advocates counter that pasteurization kills flavor, as well as beneficial bacteria and the nutrients that make milk healthful. They argue that far more illnesses are attributed to poorly handled pasteurized milk than raw. At the very least, they say, consumers should have the freedom to choose the dairy products they want. Idaho is one of only a handful of states that give consumers that choice. …

The drink went on the shelves accompanied by a marketing blitz March 21. Basketball icon Bobby Plump, another of Wolfla's friends, served as its pitchman, autographing half-gallon jugs of Choc-Ola for fans who lined up at Northern Indiana Martin's locations. "Huge. It took off huge," said Dave Mayfield, advertising director for Martin's Supermarkets. "There's so many people who remember Choc-Ola. It's homegrown Indiana, and people like that idea." …
