General Mills announced the completion of its acquisition of a 51 percent controlling interest in Yoplait S.A.S., and a 50 percent interest in a related entity that holds the worldwide Yoplait brands, from PAI Partners and Sodiaal in a transaction valued at approximately US$1.2 billion. The remaining ownership stakes in both entities will continue to be held by Sodiaal, France’s leading dairy cooperative.

Dairy Processors Welcome Agreement On Pilot Trucking Program With Mexico

The International Dairy Foods Association hailed today's announcement by the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) that a formal agreement on a pilot cross-border trucking program between Mexico and the United States has been signed. The agreement will reduce 50 percent of the tariffs imposed by Mexico on U.S. cheese exports.

Old Home Foods has issued a voluntary recall of cottage cheese sold with the expiration date of August 1. The only Old Home products affected are cottage cheese with this expiration date of August 1. The recall has been instituted as this particular cottage cheese with the August 1 code may spoil prior to its expiration date.
