U.S. Foodservice Inc. will stay put in Memphis and expand its plant here, adding 60 jobs in the $30.8 million project.
The food products distribution company will purchase its current facility — located at 5900 E. Holmes Road — from Belz Enterprises. It currently leases 175,000 square feet of the 385,000-square-foot building, but will expand into the entire footprint by the end of 2011.
U.S Foodservice considered relocating to an alternate site in Olive Branch, Miss.
As part of the expansion, U.S. Foodservice also is purchasing adjacent land where it will construct a vehicle maintenance and fueling facility.
