INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana — The Produce Mom® has begun a new blog series entitled, “Ask the Produce Expert.” The series features a Produce Mom partner answering farm industry-related questions that are on consumers’ minds. Produce Mom fans and readers are encouraged to submit questions that they’d like answered by a produce expert. The goal of this series is to help consumers become more educated on the food that they purchase and eat on a daily basis.
The “Ask the Produce Expert” series began with a blog post from Addie Pobst and Deidre Smyrnos of Viva Tierra Organic. In the post, Pobst and Smyrnos educated readers on the difference between organic, natural, and healthy foods and answered consumer questions such as: “What are the benefits of organic agriculture?”, “How do we know that what is sold as organic is really organic, especially if it’s imported?”, “Why does organic cost more?”
The “Ask the Produce Expert” series continued this month with Brian Antle of Tanimura & Antle, answering consumer questions about the process and sustainability of field fresh hand picking and packaging of produce. He also gave readers a brief look into life on a farm.
“Saying that I’m excited about this new series would be an understatement,” said Lori Taylor, The Produce Mom. “Today’s consumers are eager for information on where their food comes from and how it is grown and I am thrilled to connect my readers with the most knowledgeable and reliable sources in the produce industry — farmers!”
