Tanimura & Antle Promotes Nick Sgheiza To Vice President Of Harvest

Salinas, CA – Tanimura & Antle; a grower, shipper and marketer of premium branded produce; today announced the promotion of Nick Sgheiza to vice president of harvest.

Sgheiza began his career with Tanimura & Antle in 1999 as an intern in the company’s cooler, harvest shop, and planting department. After college he returned to Tanimura & Antle to begin his farming career working alongside the spinach and spring mix crews, and later worked with the romaine, mixed lettuces and celery departments. Sgheiza then managed onion operations prior to his most recent role as senior director of harvest operations.

Sgheiza’s hands-on experience with these various departments brings key experience and insight of the entire farming operation to his new position.

“I began working directly with Nick when he moved from managing harvest crews in celery to the onion operation where he helped build our labor force by converting contractors to employee-only crews while managing the that operation. We made a great team and am excited for his promotion,” said Scott Grabau, Tanimura & Antle president and chief executive officer. “Nick’s hard work and dedication to leading by example has earned respect from his peers at all levels. He embodies our culture of quality, service, ownership and accountability.”

“I’m grateful for this opportunity,” said Sgheiza. “Not many companies have the type of vertical integration that would allow someone to serve in functions from planting to harvest and everything in between. Those roles have equipped me with the skills and insight needed to succeed in this leadership position.”

A Salinas native, Sgheiza attended Palma High School, and earned a bachelor’s degree in crop science with a minor in agriculture business from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. Sgheiza is a graduate of the Future Leaders program of the Grower-Shipper Association of Central California, a program that exposes new generations of ag professionals to issues and facets of the ag industry beyond what they manage in the day-to-day duties of their jobs, and he participates annually in Monterey County Farm Day.
