SureHarvest CEO Appointed To CDFA Environmental Farming Panel

Soquel, CA –  Dr. Jeff Dlott has been appointed by California Department of Food and Agriculture Secretary Karen Ross to serve on the Cannella Environmental Farming Act Science Panel. Secretary Ross has made a commitment to invigorate the panel, established over a decade ago, and has brought together panel members with deep experience in environmental farming.

The Cannella Environmental Farming Act requires the Department of Food and Agriculture to establish and oversee an environmental farming program to provide incentives to farmers whose practices promote the well-being of ecosystems, air quality, and wildlife and their habitat. In addition, the CDFA is required to assist in the compilation of scientific evidence from public and private sources and serve as a depository of this information and provide it to federal, state, and local governments, as needed.

“I’m honored to be appointed alongside such an intelligent and experienced group of colleagues” stated Dr. Dlott, SureHarvest CEO. “It’s a privilege to serve on the panel to advise and assist Secretary Ross in her commitment to strengthen California agriculture’s positive impacts on the economy and environment.”

Dr. Dlott will be serving along with Ann Thrupp, Ph.D., Manager of Sustainability and Organic Development, Fetzer & Bonterra Vineyards (Hopland); Don Cameron, Vice President and General Manager, TerraNova Ranch, Inc. (Fresno); Brian Leahy, JD, Resources Agency, Department of Conservation; Mike Tollstrup, CalEPA, Air Resources Board. Ex Officio members will be Daniel Mountjoy, Ph.D., USDA NRCS and Louise Jackson, Ph.D., University of California Cooperative Extension.

The work of the science panel will underscore CDFA’s commitment to science, to a fair regulatory climate, and to the ongoing documentation of the environmental contributions of farming.
