YUMA, AZ – August 10, 2010 – Edward O’Malley has been named President and Chief Executive Officer of Datepac, LLC, Yuma, AZ – a processor/shipper of fresh medjool dates.
Mr. O’Malley has over 30 years of global experience in marketing, operations and supply chain management with fresh produce and packaged foods. In 2009, he served Chemonics International as Director of the Mazar Food Initiative in Afghanistan – part of a $110 million project funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development, to improve livelihoods for Afghan farmers and businesses.
Mr. O’Malley was previously Vice President of Supply Chain for Albert’s Organics where he handled global produce procurement and distribution to Albert’s nationwide distribution centers. He has also held executive positions in marketing with Fresh Express, Dole Fresh Vegetables and Paramount Farms.
“There is tremendous opportunity to increase consumption of medjool fresh dates in retail, foodservice and export channels,” Mr. O’Malley said. “Medjool dates are nutritious, great tasting and versatile as a snack or in recipes.”
