The Guatemalan Produce Trade Association (GPTA) membership will participate at Agritrade in Antigua, Guatemala, March 23 and 24th. GPTA Membership be made up of Guatemalan exporters, U.S. Importers, marketers and brokers of Guatemala fresh fruits and vegetables will be networking, making and closing business deals, researching new strategies to advance the Guatemalan trade with the United States.
The GTPA Membership will host their Bi-Annual Meeting while in Guatemala, March 22nd at the Casa Santo Domingo Hotel in Antigua, Guatemala. Priscilla Lleras-Bush, GPTA Coordinator states, “Our GPTA meeting agenda and discussion will stimulate new ways of energizing trade between Guatemala and the United States.” Their agenda is fully packed with topics that will surge the Guatemalan brand throughout the U.S. retailers’ shelves and inspire foodservice to feature fresh fruits and vegetables from Guatemala on their menus. Ricardo Sieveking, Co-Chairman of GPTA adds, “GPTA will be hitting new ground in 2017, our membership is determined to take Guatemalan exports to the next level, we have the quality products, exporters have generations of experience and now we believe is the perfect time to be united and build on the synergies currently at hand.”
Robert Colescott, Co-chairman of GPTA adds, “Our experience growing, importing and marketing produce from Guatemala spans over two decades. We receive information, daily, that gives us insight into the U.S. market. Today, the market dynamics lean towards diversification that affects consumer buying habits. For instance, millennials are driven by the freshest, best quality produce that is ethically grown with respect to our planet & people and Guatemala is ideally suited to deliver that product. Our GPTA meeting will focus on collaborating to promote this message to the U.S. market.”
Priscilla Lleras-Bush, Association Coordinator adds, “We are in year 2 of the association and we have a diverse group between exporters, importers of fresh fruits and vegetables from Guatemala. With the caliber of professionals, knowledge and tenure within the association, we will be able to develop a precise message and boost brand awareness of the fresh fruits and vegetables from Guatemala.”
The association will focus even greater efforts in 2017 on spreading the positive word to trade press, supermarkets and consumers concerning the benefits of fresh fruits and vegetables from Guatemala. Through articles, advertisements, direct-communication, and trade show participation. The association anticipates increasing consumption and demand for fresh produce from Guatemala 2017/2018.
