Burlington, MA – New England Produce Council, Inc. (NEPC) hosted their Annual Dinner Dance Gala at the World Trade Center/Seaport Hotel, Boston. The event was a success in many ways as NEPC partnered with Friends of Boston Homeless to collect socks at the Gala.
The sock drive was extremely successful with over 600 pairs of socks for men, women and children donated at this event. The socks will be distributed to Boston area shelters.
According to Mariann Bucina Roca, Executive Director for Friends of Boston’s Homeless our sock drive came at a perfect time as the temperature is going to drop with storms in the midst. Roca commented “Thank you so much for your support of our community's vulnerable people. You all donated a lot of socks and we greatly appreciate your kindness and generosity! Your donations will not only help keep people experiencing homelessness safe and warm, but will also help them maintain their comfort and dignity.” Anthony Sattler (NEPC Board President) comments, “We are very proud to assist Friends of Boston Homeless with this sock drive and we look to continue our community outreach throughout the year.”
