On Saturday, October 10th, the Eastern Produce Council held the Inaugural Joe DeLorenzo Apple Picking Event at Melick’s Family Farm in Oldwick, NJ. The weather was fabulous and 65 people including Joe’s family and EPC members and their families enjoy cider and doughnuts, apple picking and a hay ride.
The event was named after long standing member and former President, Joe DeLorenzo, who passed away in November of 2014. While Joe was a well-respected and beloved member of the produce industry and had a very successful career, his first love was his family. When the EPC’s Board of Directors met early this year to determine an appropriate way to honor Joe, an event that involved families was the resounding theme.
