West Sacramento-based Raley’s, which last week announced that it will close its Raley’s Supermarket on Mack Road in September, confirmed Friday that it will soon close two more stores in the Bay Area.
The grocer said it will close its Nob Hills Foods store in San Jose on June 20 and its Raley’s Supermarket in Newark on Aug. 1.
Company spokeswoman Chelsea Minor said in an email statement: “Each store is evaluated individually on performance. These individual decisions are sometimes necessary for the betterment of the whole. We continue to evaluate the marketplace to ensure the viability and lasting commitment that Raley's has had for the last 80 years. We know a store closure is difficult for our communities, and we hope to serve them at our other locations.”
