McLEAN, Va. – The National Fisheries Institute (NFI) Salmon Council continues to make a splash online by joining forces with three highly influential food bloggers for a yearlong ambassador program, following the successful launch of a Facebook page in 2014.
“Studies continue to show that bloggers are strong influencers with highly engaged audiences,” said Judy Dashiell, Sr. V.P. with NFI. “Our mission is to encourage Americans to eat more salmon at home and in restaurants – so it makes perfect sense for the Salmon Council to partner with talented food bloggers, as well as the iconic brand Rubbermaid.”
The Salmon Council’s 2015 ambassador program includes collaboration with the following acclaimed bloggers:
- The Recipe Critic
- Cooking Classy
- Reluctant Entertainer
Partnership with Rubbermaid®
To highlight the delicious taste and nutritious makeup of salmon and its benefits during American Heart Month, the Council activated a multichannel promotional partnership with Rubbermaid®, a leader in kitchen and home organizational solutions.
The partnership featured blog posts by each ambassador highlighting the heart-healthy omega-3s found in salmon. Each blogger developed and showcased a mouthwatering recipe ranging from Honey-Glazed Salmon with Citrus Avocado Salsa and Lemon Dill Salmon with Cucumber Herb Sauce to Sweet Chili Garlic Glazed Salmon. Since heart health starts in the kitchen, the ambassadors were equipped with select Rubbermaid® products that encourage healthy habits and enable satisfying sensations such as salmon on-the-road , including: the LunchBlox Salad Kit, Shaker Bottle and Party Platter. Through a combination of blog readership and social media engagement, the posts garnered nearly 5 million impressions.
“The Salmon Council’s activity as part of heart-health education was a natural fit,” remarked Dashiell. “Through strategic partnerships and inventive ways of enjoying salmon, The Council drove awareness to American Heart Month and the importance of eating seafood, especially salmon, at least twice a week.”
