Lleida, Spai – Fresh produce software specialist Alter Software has announced major new advances in the development of two of its principal products — Keops© y Ares© — which will enable their use by growers in regions without good access to the internet.
The technological and functional changes to both Keops© (which has been designed for agricultural and pack house management) and Ares© (which allows for easy management of financial and accountancy functions), are the result of 12 months’ work to improve and simplify the user interface.
As Alter’s director of business development, Manuel Mota, explained, both Keops© y Ares© have been accessible through any internet connection since their launch, but the increase in the number of operating systems and devices has led to a need for new solutions, particularly in areas with poor or limited internet coverage.
The new versions of both agricultural software systems will allow managers and employees to continue to access the solutions even in places where online connections are unreliable, enabling daily management of their activities.
Being able to make use of the applications combined with remote access to on-line information has meant that Alter’s clients are able to make even more use of the possibilities offered by the software systems, said Mota.
“All the advantages of an integrated, on-line system that is both easily accessible and intuitive must be reconciled with the need for access to it in a rural setting, which often do not have the hoped-for technological conditions in place,” he explained.
“For this reason, we have put a great deal of effort over the last 12 months into realising that compatibility and always without losing sight of the essence of our software solutions.”
“Both solutions are in permanent development and are continuously being adapted to comply with new changes in legislation at no additional cost to our clients,” Mota added.
Cutting-edge technology
In an economic environment where there is a high level of uncertainty about future changes in consumption and economic growth as a whole, taking decisions about investments can be difficult.
This is especially the case for the fresh produce sector in the wake of a series of difficult export campaigns in terms of both sales and margins. Although this has varied depending on region and product, few growers have had an easy time.
Despite this, recent months have seen Alter significantly increase its list of clients that now rely on the software solutions provider as a partner that guarantees they are ahead of the curve from both a technological and a functional point of view.
“One of the main factors that defines Alter is our closeness to both our existing clients and to those new companies that have placed their trust in us,” said Mota.
“Through a focus on close working relationships with our clients, being at the technological cutting- edge and functional simplicity, the adaption of our solutions to current needs and future demands happens spontaneously, but with an emphasis on maintaining our standards for efficiency.”
Based in Lleida, Spain, Alter Software will be present as an exhibitor at the forthcoming edition of Fruit Attraction, which will be staged from 15-17 October 2014 in the Spanish capital’s Feria de Madrid exhibition centre.
