Rogue Creamery Introduces 80th Anniversary Cheese & Ale

Rogue Creamery introduces a limited release of its 80th Anniversary Cheese and Rogue Ale’s commemorative ale .It’s Rogue Creamery’s year for a Pearls and Diamond celebration, and Rogue Ales has handcrafted ale to honor their commitment to sustainability and creating award winning cheese. Rogue Creamery has crafted a new cheese in small batches inspired by the ale. It’s a classic hand- milled, full cream cheddar; the beer is poured over the curd during the make then dipped and pressed into blocks and aged. The blocks of cheddar showcase a light marbling and distinctive flavor of ale. It debuts at the Winter Fancy Food Show in San Francisco on January 19, 2014.

Rogue Creamery President and Cheesemaker David Gremmels and Cary Bryant CEO and Cheesemaker explain the origin of the Anniversary Ale. “We asked John Maier, Brewmaster at Rogue Ales, to create a beer to go with one of his favorite cheeses, Rogue River Blue. We discussed floral, toasted nut, hop, herbal, cocoa and grain flavor notes in John’s recipes.  During the People’s Coast ride in September John described his brewing technique for the Anniversary Ale as one of the richest most balanced and distinctive beers he has brewed “.

John Maier said to David, “Glad you like it, I'm honored to have been able to make it for you and Cary, and I honestly think it is one of the best beers we have ever brewed “.

The 80th Anniversary Ale is a strong Imperial Brown Ale made with 13 different ingredients; the availability is limited. This one of a kind walnut brown Anniversary Ale is rich and balanced with floral overtones from Rogue Farms hops and chocolate notes from the Cacao Nibs and features a long mildly sweet finish. 8.5 % alcohol by volume

The partnership between the 2 sustainable Oregon companies has been ongoing for over 10 years; Rogue and Rogue have collaborated on 4 different beer cheeses including Chocolate Stout, Morimoto Soba Ale and Hopyard.
