Flower Exporter Florimex Group Will Be Broken Up & Sold

Renowned flower exporter Florimex Group will be broken up and sold, Dutch daily Financieel Dagblad is reporting. Florimex’ main shareholder Bencis has stated it is no longer willing to continue investing in the company.

The Florimex Group, which mainly consists of the companies Baardse, Sierafor, Starkenburg en Greens, is considered one of the top-5 players when it comes to the Dutch flower trade. The group is responsible for a turnover of around 220 million euros and has establishments in countries like Portugal, Spain and Ecuador as well.

The business activities of Greens have reportedly already been discontinued, as a result of a dramatic drop in sales volume. The other Florimex elements will face the same fate and all of them will be sold separately, Florimex International’s CEO Atze Bosma has stated to the Dutch newspaper. He disputes the talk about a bankruptcy, however.

Rumors about a Florimex Group bankruptcy have circulated ever since Sierafor lost a major German client to the Dutch Flower Group, little over a week ago. “Those rumors hurt us a lot. Such reports result in our suppliers increasing their payment demands”, Bosma points out.
