International Horti Congress: How Can Horticulture Contribute To Well-Being?

The second International Horti Congress will take place in the Amsterdam RAI on 30 October 2012. Internationally acclaimed speakers will be sharing their perspectives on how horticulture can contribute to the well-being of the world’s population. Keynote speaker will be Professor Gunter Pauli, perhaps best known for his book, The Blue Economy. The title for this year’s International Horti Congress is ‘Horticulture’s contribution to well-being’.

Horticulture offers solutions to four global challenges: ensuring sustainable energy, food, water and well-being. The International Horti Congress examines one of these challenges every year. In 2012, this is well-being. The International Horti Congress is a top international event for top entrepreneurs, CEOs, CTOs, scientists, policy-makers, politicians, NGOs and governmental authorities.

Every world citizen is entitled to well-being: health, happiness, and prosperity. But how can this be realised? High-tech horticulture has important keys at hand. At the International Horti Congress, internationally acclaimed speakers will make some astonishing and exciting connections between the history and future of international horticulture in a series of speeches with the theme ‘What is the next step?

The International Horti Congress will be held on 30 October and will start at 10:00 a.m. in the Forum of the Amsterdam RAI. Speakers will be Professor Gunter Pauli (of Zero Emissions Research & Initiatives and author of The Blue Economy); Dr. Aalt Dijkhuizen, Chairman of the Executive Board of Wageningen UR; Carolyn Steel (author of The Hunger City); Dick Veerman (Foodlog.nl) and Jeroen van Oijen (co-founder of Gastronomix.com at Culiversum). The International Horti Congress will conclude with a Love My Salad Lunch and networking opportunity and will end at around 1:00 p.m.

Tickets for the International Horti Congress are available for the price of € 79.50. Participants in the International Horti Congress can then visit the Horti Fair. Horti Fair is the largest international horticultural trade fair for technology, innovation and inspiration and will be held from 30 October to 2 November inclusive in the Amsterdam RAI.
