SIOUX CITY — When the last major meatpacker in Sioux City closed its doors in April 2010, city leaders scrambled to find new industries to take its place.
The transformation began this fall, when demolition began on the 1950s-era John Morrell pork processing plant.
City leaders want to turn former Sioux City Stockyards into a landscaped business park.
Next spring, the first piece is expected to fall into place when Global Foods Processing Inc. begins construction on a $10 million plant to expand its pork products operation.
