Brattleboro, VT Dairy Slowly Making Inroads In Local Stores

BRATTLEBORO — For the past eight months, Commonwealth Dairy has been churning out tons of yogurt made with Vermont milk.

Try as you might though, chances are you won’t be able to find any of its Green Mountain Creamery yogurt in a local supermarket. But if you try a little harder, said Commonwealth Dairy President Tom Moffitt, you can find it right here in Brattleboro.

"The Brattleboro Food Co-op sells a heck of a lot of it," he said, adding it carries all flavors of Green Mountain’s yogurt. "They’re a big supporter of ours."

In addition, Dutton Farmstands in Brattleboro, Newfane and Manchester, and Vermont Country Deli on Western Avenue carry the yogurt, he said. The Putney Co-op carries only the plain Greek yogurt in quarts and Market Basket in Keene, N.H., carries it, but not on a consistent basis.
