The New Orleans Hornets announced today an expansion of their partnership with the Louisiana Seafood Promotion and Marketing Board which will ensure that Louisiana gulf seafood will be the exclusive seafood sold throughout the building over the next three seasons. Earlier this season, the Hornets and the Louisiana Seafood Promotion and Marketing Board announced the creation of a concession stand in the New Orleans Arena dedicated solely to serving gulf seafood.
“The entire Hornets family is proud to support the Louisiana seafood industry and to provide our fans at the arena with the freshest seafood straight out of the gulf,” said Hornets President Hugh Weber. “This expansion of our partnership will make Louisiana seafood exclusive in our building and will help reinforce to an even broader audience that Louisiana seafood is safe, healthy and delicious.”
In addition to the seafood exclusivity, the Louisiana Seafood brand will be displayed on various advertising elements in the arena in an effort to communicate throughout the United States, and specifically to the other 29 NBA markets, the good news about the rebounding Louisiana seafood industry. To further communicate that message, visiting broadcasters from other NBA teams receive seafood samples to allow them to experience the quality of Louisiana seafood firsthand.
"The commitment of the New Orleans Arena and the Hornets to serving Gulf seafood at basketball games and arena events shows tremendous support of our fishing communities. We hope other arenas and sports teams across the nation follow their example and support domestic seafood," said Chairman of the Louisiana Seafood Promotion and Marketing Board Harlon Pearce.
As part of this announcement, before the Hornets game on Saturday, Feb. 12 against the Chicago Bulls, Louisiana Chef Brian Landry of Galatoire’s served samples of crawfish etoufee to fans at Zatarain’s BuzzFest, the Hornets pre-game block party outside of the arena.
