HP Hood, New England's leading dairy processor, awarded 18 high school seniors $5,000 Hood® Sportsmanship® Scholarships presented by Hood Milk during a ceremony at Gillette Stadium on Sunday, May 19. Three high school seniors from each of the six New England states – Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont – were honored for their integrity and sportsmanship on and off the playing field.

Dairy Supply Chain Launches Guide For Sustainability Reporting

The Innovation Center for U.S. Dairy® — established under the leadership of America’s dairy producers —  announced two new resources to advance the industry’s ability to track, improve and communicate sustainability performance and progress across the supply chain. ABA Urges Senate To Add Jobs To The Economy By Supporting Sugar Reform

The American Bakers Association (ABA) strongly urged the U.S. Senate to vote in favor of an amendment to the Agriculture Reform, Food and Jobs Act of 2013, or the Senate Farm Bill, reforming the current U.S. Sugar Program. “The current sugar program costs consumers as much as $3.5 billion a year,” said ABA President and CEO Robb MacKie, in a letter to the Senate. “With today’s anemic job growth, it is unconscionable that Congress would continue to support a program that has caused the loss of over 127,000 jobs between 1997 and 2010,” he continued.

Dr. David Acheson To Address Food Safety Issues With ABA & ATBI Boards

Dr. David Acheson will be speaking at the Joint ABA and ATBI Board of Directors meeting on June 7, in Washington D.C. “The Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) established sweeping reforms to federal food safety laws,” said American Bakers Association President & CEO Robb MacKie. “Dr. Acheson is an expert in this area and has worked with the baking industry before.  His perspective on the FSMA requirements and practical implications of the recent Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) preventative controls proposal will lend additional insight to the baking industry.”
